Medical Terminology and Communication in Russian II (VC_103)
About Study Course
Objective
To acquire medical terminology in Russian and skills for communication with patients.
Prerequisites
At the level of the elective course "Medical terminology and communication in Russian I" or in compliance with CEFRL language proficiency level A1.
Learning outcomes
On successful completion of the course, students will be able to:
- recognise familiar medical terminology and to provide either Russian explanation or Latvian translation of the terms;
- name the parts of the body, the main organs and systems;
- describe patient condition, course of the illness.
On successful course completion students will be able to:
- use appropriate medical terminology interacting with patients/ clients and colleagues;
- select medical terminology and make their own terminology glossary;
- take a history, give recommendations and instructions for treatment.
On successful course completion students will be able to deliver information about oneself; to perceive, write down and give the needed information about the patient's state; to make questions and maintain a conversation with a patient; to express one's opinion on common medical issues.
