The study centre at Riga East Clinical University Hospital (RAKUS) is the largest and most sophisticated study centre hosted by any of Latvia’s hospitals. The centre performs the education function that is embedded in the name of the hospital, ensuring a top-class education and overall contribution of RSU to the national health care system.

By investing 943,000 EUR, RSU has modernised and adjusted the training premises of the former Block 13 of the hospital covering the total area of 1042 sqm to fit the requirements and specifics of a modern study centre. Up to 304 students can train at the new study centre, ensuring the acquisition of theoretical and also clinical study courses alongside work in real life conditions. There are seven fully-equipped lecture-rooms and a recreation area for students covering the area of 140 sqm with 32 individual study places.

The study centre is used for studies by RSU students studying Internal Diseases, Surgery, Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Infectology and Dermatology, as well as Radiology and it also hosts various academic events related to medicine – conferences, workshops, contests, upgrading courses, summer schools, symposiums, etc.
