This semester RSU welcomes almost 380 international students

Last week Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU) held an Orientation Week for newly-enrolled international students. Almost 380 international students from 31 country joined RSU this semester to study in one of six English language study programmes – Medicine, Dentistry, Public Health, Nursing, Social Work with Children and Youth and International Governance and Diplomacy.

During five amazing days the freshers had an opportunity to get to know RSU and it’s society, meet the new study-mates and get closer a life in Latvia. Along with the official part of the programme they also met the various student organizations, found out their primary aims.

The week was fullfilled with various social and cultural activities. Students came over the illusions in Cosmos Illusion Museum, explored the treasures of Latvian national art and find the connections between the Latvian and foreign artists by visiting Latvian National Museum of Art, on a day trip to Rundale Palace Museum discovered the unique treasure of baroque and rococo architecture and art in Latvia, on Saturday's evening went to Jurmala city to enjoy the views of the classic Baltic sunset at the seaside.

It was a great pleasure to welcome students who are highly motivated and with great previous accomplishments. All students come with different experiences. It enriches the environment of our university and gives us an opportunity to encounter different worldviews.

The Orientation Week for international students is organised each semester to foster the integration of international students into the university and the study process. In addition to the newly-arrived full-time international students, Orientation Week is also attended by Erasmus+ students from European partner universities of RSU.

Orientation Week is organised by the RSU International Department together with other structural units, the RSU International Students' Association and the RSU Students Union.
