The 10th International Student Conference (ISC) Health Social Sciences 2024 took place on 21 and 22 March at Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU). This is the largest student-organised scientific event not only in the Baltic States, but also in Northern Europe.

ISC brings together students and research enthusiasts from several countries and universities to share their research results, participate in discussions and workshops, listen and be inspired over the course of two days. A total of 360 research papers were submitted to the conference, divided into health and social science sections, which could be observed both in person and remotely.

This conference is an excellent opportunity for students to introduce themselves to an international and professional jury by presenting their research orally, as clinical cases, and in poster sessions. Students were able to hear from and be inspired by professionals in their field by attending panel discussions such as Addressing the climate crisis - actions for European countries and The future of military medicine - how will AI impact the industry?

The conference programme was complemented by lecture-style seminars, and students could test their skills in 23 different health science workshops, working with simulation kits from different disciplines at the RSU Medical Education Technology Centre. On both days, students had the opportunity to visit both the Pauls Stradiņš Museum of the History of Medicine and the RSU Anatomy Museum.

The conference concluded with a final round, where the top-ranked papers from each section competed for cash prizes. The closing ceremony took place on 22 March, at 19:00 in the RSU Great Hall with an award ceremony for the best RSU ISC 2024 papers. At the closing event, participants were entertained by a musical performance by Chris Noah.
