Upon the decision of the Latvian Chapter of Orders, this year three staff members of Rīga Stradiņš University have received the highest state award for merits for the state, among them Professor Jānis Gardovskis, rector of RSU, Halina Irēna Jodzēviča, Assistant Professor of the Department of Orthopedics, and Dace Tropa, lecturer of Faculty of Continuing Education.
On November 28, the elections of rector of Rīga Stradiņš University will take place. Rector is elected by RSU Constitutional Assembly and approved by the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Latvia for a five year term. Two candidates have applied for the position.
On 12 November, associate professor David Kachlík of Charles University in Prague will read a guest lecture in the subject of Human Anatomy. The theme of the lecture is "Deep muscles of the back. Posture of human body. Anatomy of good and poor posture. Complications of poor posture. Groups of muscles providing posture of the body. Morphology and function of the foot. Dissection method in anatomy".
On 6 & 7 December 2012, Rīga will be hosting an International Conference on Occupational Health and Safety, "From Policies to Practice", organised by the Institute of Occupational Safety and Environmental Health of RSU.
RSU is among the first higher educational establishments in the Baltic States to have joined the 4sqOnCampus foursquare programme. Alongside with the world's prominent universities, RSU will be enriching the foursquare platform with historical facts and messages topical for the students.
