Objective

The objective of the course "European Union Foreign Policy" is to equip students with a comprehensive understanding of the EU's role and influence in global affairs. By the end of the course, students will have gained a nuanced appreciation of the EU's diplomatic strategies, its engagement with international partners, and its response to key global challenges. They will be able to analyze and assess the effectiveness of EU foreign policy initiatives, grasp the complexities of decision-making processes within the EU institutions, and appreciate the impact of EU foreign policy on international relations. Ultimately, students will emerge with the ability to critically evaluate the EU's role as a global actor and contribute to informed discussions on European foreign policy matters.

Prerequisites

Prior knowledge for the course "European Union Foreign Policy" includes a foundational understanding of the structure and functions of the European Union as a political and economic entity. This encompasses knowledge of the EU's institutions, decision-making processes, and policies across various domains, such as trade, economics, and governance. Additionally, familiarity with key concepts in international relations, including diplomacy, power dynamics, and global governance, is essential. Students should also possess a basic awareness of major global issues and challenges facing the international community. This prior knowledge serves as the framework upon which the course builds, allowing students to delve deeper into the intricacies of EU foreign policy without revisiting fundamental concepts already covered.
