In memoriam: RSU Honorary Doctor Michael Höllwarth (3.05.1943 – 12.03.2024)

Prof. Höllwarth was a professor emeritus at the Medical University of Graz (Austria) and one of the world's most eminent paediatric surgeons, pioneer of many paediatric surgical technologies, honorary member of 19 European and world paediatric surgical associations, author of 208 scientific publications of the highest quality, author and co-author of 36 textbooks and author of three scientific monographs.

Since 1997, he provided tremendous support and assistance in improving the qualifications of Latvian paediatric surgeons. Five Latvian paediatric surgeons underwent training at the Paediatric Surgery Clinic of the Medical University of Graz under his leadership.

Prof. Höllwarth visited RSU several times and became a visiting professor in May 2012.
