The RSU Department of Communication Studies and Dita Rietuma, the Director of the Latvian National Film Center, has launched the Cinema Lab film lecture series. The theme of this year's series is 'The media in film'.

  • 3 December at 17:00 in the RSU Great Hall movie All The President's Men. Experts: Chad Twitty, Press and Cultural Attaché at the US Embassy in Latvia, and Dr.art. Dita Rietuma

Cinema is one of the most powerful means of mass communication. As it has developed, film-makers have also paid a lot of attention to other media like the press, TV and social networks. The subject of this year's series includes media coverage of cinema and the potential of media to influence society, and even history.

The screenings and lectures are made possible thanks to the support of the US Embassy in Latvia. Eight screenings of US films coupled with expert lectures on the related subjects are planned for 2019 and 2020. The series will include films about television, films about the origins of social networking, as well as films that showcase aspects of investigative journalism.

Entrance is free of charge. No prior registration necessary. Students and anyone interested are welcome!

The screenings and lectures are made possible thanks to the support of the US Embassy in Latvia. Eight screenings of US films coupled with expert lectures on related subjects are planned for 2019 and 2020. All films will be screened in their original language.
