Objective

To master the professional skills needed by a social worker in social work in the field of the social services system and in the field of health and safety.

Prerequisites

Social work theories and methods for working with an individual, a family, a group and a community; management of social cases; regulatory framework for the activities of social service institutions in Latvia; social policy; management and logistics, administration and quality assessment of social services; professional ethics.

Learning outcomes

Knowledge

1.Able to demonstrate knowledge and understanding of social work as a cross-sectoral profession; the role of social work in the formation, provision and administration of social services at state and local government level.

Skills

1.Able to use social work theories, approaches and methods in accordance with the specifics of the social case; able to independently work with a social case; able to cooperate with other specialists in a team.

Competence

1.Able to take responsibility and initiative, when performing work individually or in a team; able to set the priorities of works to be performed, to work in a team and plan, organise and lead its work.
