Objective

To develop students’ understanding of the structure of society and the basic principles of its functioning, as well as the possibilities for analysing and exploring sports-related processes, linking them to current societal challenges and research directions in the field of sport.

Prerequisites

Study courses mastered: Sports History, Theory of Sport.

Learning outcomes

Knowledge

1.Will know about society, its structure, the basic conditions of functioning and sport as a social institute necessary for the functioning of society.

Skills

1.Will be able:
to work with different sources of information;
to discuss changes in the sports sector and related processes and their impact on society development;
to critically evaluate various processes related to the sports sector in the context of the speciality to be learned;
to use knowledge of sports sector processes to engage in society’s sports activities, as well as conduct independent research into sports sociology and analyse research results.

Competence

1.Ability to navigate the problems related to the functioning of society and take decisions to solve them using the knowledge of the functioning of sport as a social institute and the aspects affecting it in personal professional activity.
