Objective

To acquire the necessary competences for the professional inclusion of environmental health science and practice matters in the implementation of the field of health and physical activity in basic and secondary school.

Prerequisites

Knowledge: basic knowledge of human anatomy and physiology, biology, chemistry and biochemistry, and human health training. Understanding how the human body functions and factors affecting health.Skills: able to use basic concepts of anatomy, physiology and biology. Able to analyse and interpret simple information on environmental and health interactions. Able to use scientific literature and other reliable sources of information.Competences: able to integrate basic knowledge of natural sciences and health sciences within the meaning of environmental health issues. Is aware of the role of environmental factors in maintaining human health and physical capacity. Is prepared to independently improve knowledge and use evidence-based information.

Learning outcomes

Knowledge

1.1. Describes the basic concepts, objectives and the role of environmental health in promoting public health.
2. Explains the impact of physical, chemical, biological, social and psychoemotional environmental factors on human health and physical health.
3. Describe health risk factors in educational institutions and in the sports environment, as well as their impact on the health of children, adolescents and adults.
4. Explain the principles of a health-enhancing and safe education environment and their role in the implementation of a healthy lifestyle.

Skills

1.5. Analyse environmental health concerns using scientific research and other evidence-based sources of information.
6. Identify health risk factors in educational institutions, sports classes and the teacher’s work environment.
7. Assess the potential health effects of environmental factors and justify appropriate risk mitigation measures.
8. Develop recommendations for limiting or preventing health risk factors in the educational and sporting environment.

Competence

1.9. Justifies the importance of a health-promoting and safe environment in educational establishments and sports activities using evidence-based information.
10. Integrate environmental health principles into professional activities by planning a safe, health-friendly and inclusive learning and sports environment.
