Objective

To provide students with knowledge of the expertise in relation to patient claims to the Medical Treatment Risk Fund for compensation for damage to life or health, and for medical expenses related to the mitigation or prevention of the consequences of the damage caused.

Learning outcomes

Knowledge

1.The resident understands the process of carrying out an expert-examination in the framework of the Medical Treatment Risk Fund, the basic principles of determining the amount of damage to life or health, as well as basic principles of assessing the relationship of medical services received to the mitigation or elimination of the consequences of the damage caused.

Skills

1.The resident understands the nature of the specific expertise within the Medical Treatment Risk Fund, uses theoretical and practical knowledge in assessing the patient's medical records, determining the amount of damage to life or health, and preparing the conclusion section.

Competence

1.The resident is able to apply the basic principles in a real situation when participating in the examination of applications in the framework of the Medical Treatment Risk Fund.
