Objective

In-depth acquisition of knowledge about the most frequent metastases in the spine, tactics in cases where the primary oncological process is known and treated and in cases when a pathological process in the spine is the primary finding. Learning about primary tumors of the spine and their treatment options.

Learning outcomes

Knowledge

1.Sufficient knowledge is acquired so that the decisions made regarding operative or interventional tumor treatment do not conflict with the treatment plan and options of oncologists, hematologists and radiation therapists.

Skills

1.Able to order examinations for the diagnosis of tumors and metastases, to specify the stage of spread of the pathological process in the spine, to assess the feasibility and validity of a biopsy.

Competence

1.Diagnose a pathological process in the spine, prescribe full-spectrum differential diagnostic examinations to clarify the diagnosis, including invasive ones (DSA, biopsy). Participation in a multidisciplinary council regarding the treatment plan for an oncology patient's MTS spinal complex. Decision-making about indications for operative treatment or refusal of operative treatment. Competence to evaluate radiological findings of a patient with an oncological process in the spine, to classify the spread and degree of the process. Argue the purposefulness of applying different treatment methods, evaluate the results of the treatment and diagnostics performed on the patient.
