Objective

To provide an opportunity to learn in-depth the peculiarities of emergency conditions in children's internal diseases, the most common children's infectious diseases, surgery and traumatology, in order to be able to provide emergency care at the stage of pre-hospital and hospital admission department.

Learning outcomes

Knowledge

1.The student will know:
• Characteristics of children's injuries, principles of treatment, characteristics of immobilization;
• Symptoms of the most common internal diseases and surgical pathologies in children and examination characteristics according to the age of the child;
• Provision of emergency assistance;
• Symptoms and treatment of the most common childhood infectious diseases (measles, rubella, scarlet fever, chicken pox, whooping cough, epidemic parotitis).

Skills

1.The student will be able to:
• Examine a child suspected of acute illness;
• Examine an injured child according to primary and secondary assessment algorithms;
• Immobilize the trauma patient according to the transport immobilization requirements;
• Provide analgesia and necessary infusion therapy for an injured child;
• Bandage the child, treat the wounds and stop the bleeding;
• Diagnose the most common urgent surgical pathologies in children and start treatment.

Competence

1.Providing emergency medical assistance to children of any age and deciding on the necessity and usefulness of a pediatrician.
