Objective

To acquire knowledge about the significance of dermocosmetics in the care of healthy and pathologically altered body skin, scalp and hair. To determine opportunities of dermocosmetic usage in therapeutic regimen in condition of skin diseases. To define indications for dermocosmetics usage according to skin clinical conditions and consumer preferences.

Prerequisites

Skin anatomy. Chemistry and cosmetics. Pharmacy care.

Learning outcomes

Knowledge

1.As a result of successful study course acquisition, students will be able to:
• Navigate the terminology of cosmetics, dermocosmetics, understand the difference.
• Target groups of different dermocosmetics for specific indications of use.
• Analyse the basic ingredients of dermocosmetics, understand their meaning.
• To assess the usefulness of dermocosmetic products on an individual basis, in specific cases.

Skills

1.As a result of successful study course acquisition, students will be able to:
• Assess skin type, condition.
• Recognise the main indications for the use of certain dermocosmetics.
• Analyse the benefits of a particular situation from a properly applied dermo-cosmetic product.

Competence

1.Upon successful completion of the course, students will be able to provide advice on the skin type, its combination of conditions, as well as help in finding the right dermocosmetic product, taking into account the characteristics of the clinical picture and the requirements of individual needs.
