On Wednesday, 5 November, Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU) Rector Prof. Aigars Pētersons met with representatives of the RSU Alumni Association and the board of the RSU Foundation to familiarise themselves with and discuss the RSU Alumni Association's strategy for 2025–2030.

Egita Pole, Chair of the Board of the RSU Alumni Association, introduced attendees to the goals of the strategy, which are to strengthen the sense of belonging to the RSU community, promote professional growth, and build active cooperation between alumni, students, and the university. The strategy is based on three interrelated directions:

  1. Strengthening engagement. It is planned to develop initiatives and events that promote the participation of graduates in the life of the university community, highlighting their achievements and role in society.
  2. Supporting education and professional growth. The association plans to offer seminars, experience exchanges, and mentoring programs to promote the transfer of knowledge between specialists of different generations.
  3. Expanding cooperation. The plan is to strengthen contacts both within RSU and internationally by creating a network of graduates that brings together professionals from different fields and countries.

The strategy envisages that a strong and active alumni community is essential for the development of the university and the strengthening of public health, education, and science in Latvia and worldwide.

Planned activities for the near future include registering the RSU Alumni Association brand by the end of 2025 and organizing a reunion for foreign graduates in early summer 2026.

Those present engaged in discussions on how to strengthen cooperation with local and foreign graduates, as well as current students.

The meeting participants agreed to sign a tripartite memorandum of cooperation between RSU, the RSU Alumni Association, and the RSU Foundation, which will also include the regulations adopted at the Senate meeting on May 19 2015, "Vivat maecenatum caritas" – RSU supporter recognition and relationship management.
