About Study Course
Objective
The course provides advanced knowledge of the impact of systemic diseases and their management on endodontic treatment, developing the resident's ability to assess medical risk factors, plan safe and evidence-based endodontic care for medically compromised patients, and collaborate with other healthcare professionals to optimise treatment outcomes and patient safety.
Learning outcomes
1.Acquire advanced knowledge of the impact of common systemic diseases and their management on the planning, delivery and prognosis of endodontic treatment.
Acquire knowledge of the impact of oncological diseases, medication-related osteonecrosis of the jaw (MRONJ), and head and neck radiotherapy on endodontic treatment, as well as the role of the endodontist in multidisciplinary patient care.
1.1. Assess the patient's general health, identify medical risk factors and adapt the endodontic treatment plan according to systemic diseases and ongoing medical therapy.
2. Plan endodontic treatment for patients with oncological diseases, at risk of medication-related osteonecrosis of the jaw (MRONJ), or following head and neck radiotherapy by evaluating treatment benefits, risks and the need for interdisciplinary collaboration.
1.1. Integrate theoretical knowledge and clinical skills to independently plan safe and evidence-based endodontic treatment for medically compromised patients by assessing individual medical risk factors.
2. Independently make clinical decisions regarding endodontic treatment for medically complex patients through interdisciplinary collaboration, ensuring patient safety and optimal treatment outcomes.
