To develop a historical and analytical perspective on the different forms, functions and meanings of money.
Prerequisites
Basic knowledge of anthropology.
Learning outcomes
Knowledge
1.To recognise and describe the historical origins and role of money in different types of societies.
To recognise and describe the social dimension of money and its influence on the formation of political and religious structures.

1.To analyse and evaluate theoretical and popular discourses on money from an anthropological perspective.

1.To critically evaluate popular discourses on money and financial systems from an anthropological perspective.
To articulate and justify this criticism.
