The XI Latvian Gastroenterology Congress with participants from abroad will be held online on 9 December 2023 at the ATTA conference centre (Riga, 60 Krasta iela). The Congress is supported by Riga Stradiņš University (RSU) and the Latvian Academy of Sciences.

Only two years have passed since the tenth Latvian Gastroenterology Congress, but there are many new developments both abroad and in Latvia.

Speakers from several EU countries and Latvian opinion leaders will be participating in the congress. The topics are many and diverse, but special attention will be paid to the following:

• Advances in the treatment of inflammatory bowel diseases;
• Advances in endoscopy and surgical gastroenterology;
• The microbiome;
• Current developments in hepatology and infectious gastroenterology;
• Digestive oncology;
• Laboratories and analysis;
• Gastrointestinal pharmacology.

We would like to remind you that all RSU staff members who register for the Congress will have the opportunity to participate in all satellite symposia free of charge and receive additional certificates. Seven different satellite symposia are already planned:

• The relation between mental and intestinal health: a discussion between a gastroenterologist and a psychiatrist on synergies and contributions to global health;
• Antibiotics in gastroenterology (seminar in collaboration with the Rural Family Doctors Association of Latvia);
• The digestive tract and oncology (seminar in collaboration with the Latvian Association of Haematology);
• Clinical microbiology and antibacterial resistance;
• Gastroenterology and rare liver diseases (in collaboration with the Latvian Association of Rare Disease Specialists);
• Antibiotic-associated dysbiosis;
• Autoimmunity in clinical practice.
