SHARE data presented at international training course for early-career researchers on ageing societies
From May 4 to 8, an international doctoral course titled 'Challenges in Ageing Societies – Health, Care Work, Technologies and Ethics' took place in Malmö, Sweden. The course brought together early-career researchers from Latvia, Lithuania, Finland, Germany, Italy, Sweden, and other countries to discuss the challenges of ageing societies in the fields of health, care work, technology, research, and ethics.
The topics covered included interdisciplinary perspectives on social gerontology, dementia, care work, the use of technologies, and ethical aspects of research involving vulnerable population groups. Participants also engaged in in-depth discussions on various theories of ageing, analysed European ageing policies, explored care work and gender perspectives, and discussed the use of technologies in elderly care.
Latvia was represented at the international course by Laura Maļina, a researcher and doctoral student from the SHARE Latvia team, who presented SHARE data in the context of ageing research during the discussions.
