Summer for students at Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU) and other universities has begun with high energy - Taurenis 2025 brought emotions, joy, and new friendships! On 14 to 15 June, the RSU sports and recreation base Taurene hosted the student sports and active leisure festival Taurenis 2025, bringing together more than 250 students from various universities across Latvia.

The festival kicked off early on Saturday morning with team registration, a morning warm-up exercise, and an opening ceremony, where the RSU flag was raised by Rector Prof. Aigars Pētersons, Chairperson of RSU Student Union (Studējošo pašpārvalde, SP) Luīze Monta Remese, and the festival's Project Manager Alise Luīze Bērziņa.

Immediately afterwards, the two-day marathon on sports competitions began. Students competed in football, floorball, street basketball, volleyball, and other sports, as well as participated in exciting relay races and an orienteering challenge that captivated even the most experienced athletes. However, Taurenis was not just about sports - creativity exploded at the talent show, featuring singing, energetic dance performances, and sparkling humour.

An essential part of the festival was the evening event by the campfire with live music and DJ beats until sunrise, bringing together students from various universities in a shared summer vibe. Sunday ended with intense finals, medals, and warm hugs - until next year!

Taurenis 2025 demonstrated that students are ready for great achievements when given the opportunity to come together, be active, and express themselves. Thanks to everyone who made this event possible, especially the RSU Student Union.

See you at Taurenis 2026 - even louder, more colourful, and more heartfelt!
