Objective

To provide students with theoretical and practical knowledge of infectology as a medical sector, basic principles of epidemiology of infectious diseases, manifestations of infectious diseases, diagnosis and treatment, principles of prevention and containment of diseases initiated by micro-organisms and parasites of public health, specific prevention of infectious diseases. Understand the importance of physiotherapy and the use of different methods in the case of various inflections, breathed and passprotection. Tasks: 1. To be able to classify infectious diseases according to the causes of their spread and to assess the threat to public health in Latvia and the world; 2. Recognize characteristic symptoms of infectious diseases, know general diagnostic principles and treatment; 3. Know the basics of epidemiology of infectious diseases, activities that limit the spread of infectious disease at different stages of development; 4. Understand the role and place of physiotherapy in the context of infectious diseases; 5. Choose the most appropriate physiotherapy methods and time to implement them in the context of specific infectious limitations. 6. To be able to provide first aid in the context of disease limitation and treatment within the scope of its competence. 7. Understand the importance of specific prevention and ensure self-protection when dealing with an infectious disease patient.
