Jānis Vanags, a world-renowned emergency management expert, corporate manager and board member of Maxima Latvia and long-standing corporate vice-president at airBaltic, will hold a lecture on Friday 21 February, from 12.00 to 14.00, in Auditorium 1 at Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU).  The lecture will be practice-oriented and include crisis simulation. Not only current and prospective communication experts, but also heads of enterprises and institutions, as well as medical practices and hospitals are welcome to attend the guest lecture Emergency Management – Lessons Learned from International Experience.

The lecture will cover the following questions and topics: How to develop a broader perspective and learn from countries and regions affected by crisis or transport enterprises facing emergency situations? The meaning of a powerful crisis management plan and the first steps in creating such a plan. How to manage a series of vitally important aspects: clients, media, policy makers, investigation organisation and other aspects in crisis situations? How useful are handbooks and scrupulously drafted procedures? What type of training is required for organisations to be able respond to crisis situations? How often should such training be organised?

Jānis Vanags is a lecturer in high demand by various international organisations at events all over the world – from London to Singapore. The guest lecture is organised by Ruta Siliņa, Head of the Public Relations bachelor’s study programme, and hosted by the RSU Department of Communication Studies.
