Objective

Provide doctoral students with and insight into the issues of philosophy of law by reviewing the works of the philosophers of the ancient world and comparing them with current events among law philosophers, examining the different traditions of philosophical understanding of law, demonstrating its applicability in research and analysis of modern society processes and their role in the science of law, developing critical thinking skills aimed at finding new, original solutions in law and in practice.

Prerequisites

Theory of Law, History of Law, Logic.

Learning outcomes

Knowledge

1.The doctoral student is able to demonstrate that she/he is familiar with and understands the most topical conclusions of the philosophy of law, is able to recognise breaches of ethical standards and to distinguish between the basic principles of the philosophy of law and general principles of law.

Skills

1.The doctoral student is able to analyse, synthesize and evaluate the place and role of the philosophy of law; to develop scientific research skills; is able to communicate both orally and in writing on the issues of the philosophy of law with the wider scientific community and the society at large.

Competence

1.The doctoral student is able to address important tasks related to the philosophy of law by carrying out independent, critical analysis, synthesis and evaluation; to put forward the research idea independently, to plan, structure and manage large-scale scientific projects, including international.
