Fundamentals of Anaesthesiology (RAR_007)
About Study Course
Objective
To provide medical residents with theoretical knowledge of perioperative patient care, as well as to ensure the development of basic knowledge and specific basic skills in the application of general and regional anaesthetic methods.
Learning outcomes
1.Medical residents are able to demonstrate basic knowledge and understanding of medical theories in anaesthesiology, which meets the requirements of the specialty of anaesthesiologist, reanimatologist, which provides a basis for creative thinking in clinical practice and partly in research, as well as the ability to work in interdisciplinary interactions.
Medical residents should:
- be familiar with the ASA scale for assessing the patient’s general condition;
- be able to describe the structure of an anaesthetic machine, describing the functions of its components;
- be able to describe the occupational safety regulations;
- be able to identify the indications for cancellation of an elective surgery;
- be able to describe the stages of general anaesthesia;
- be able to describe the different methods of postoperative analgesia (including the pharmacological characteristics of the medicinal products used).
1.Medical residents are able to demonstrate successful performance of the manipulations included in the study course description in a clinical setting.
Medical residents are able to demonstrate the following skills:
- preoperative examination by the anesthesiologist, risk assessment (ASA) and completion of the examination protocol;
- prescribing premedication;
- standard inspection of the anaesthetic machine;
- using the anaesthetic machine to ensure endotracheal anaesthesia;
- ensuring monitoring of organ functions during anesthesia;
- laryngeal masks, laryngeal tubes, airway insertion (dummies are also used for training);
- endotracheal intubation under direct laryngoscopic guidance (dummies also used for training);
- puncture of the epidural space and administration of an anaesthetic;
- prescribing postoperative analgesia.
1.At the end of the study course, the medical resident is familiar with the basic issues of perioperative care of surgical patients, is able to make informed decisions when preparing the patient for surgery, and is able to perform basic anaesthetic manipulations under the guidance of a physician entitled to teach.
