Learning outcomes

Knowledge

1.The study programme is mastered in the planned amount of the first year of studies: attendance of all study courses, 80% or more theoretical events have been attended, the final examination passed.
During the training a medical resident has worked in a specialised endocrinology department or advisory room, other specialised departments (during the study course) and advisory rooms under supervision of an endocrinologist having the right to teach.
A medical resident has participated in seminars and lectures of medical residents on a regular basis, prepares clinical presentation in the morning meetings, has prepared at least 4 clinical cases on an annual basis (submitted to the Head of RSU Department of Internal Diseases) and participated in the training process of students.
To understand thoroughly and be able to analyse the role of hormones in the normal development and ageing of the body, be competent in pathology of different endocrine glands, know their diagnostic, treatment and prevention methods.
To demonstrate thorough knowledge and understanding of medicine in general but in endocrinology they meet the requirements of the relevant specialty, as well as avant-garde of science and professional field by providing a basis for creative thinking in clinical placement and partially also in research, as well as an ability to act in the interdisciplinary area.
To recognize and describe different endocrine disorders in people. To define the potential endocrine pathology, to systematise diagnostic examination and organise specific treatment.

Skills

1.To recognize and describe different endocrine disorders in people, to define the potential endocrine pathology, to systematise diagnostic examination and organise specific treatment.
To use the obtained knowledge individually in solution of medical problems, in prevention, diagnosis, treatment and care of endocrine diseases. To make the practical manipulations skilfully, a medical resident has obtained skills to act in the organisation of health care, as well as in education and research;
To assess, detect and prevent the potential risk factors for development of various endocrine diseases;
To be competent in pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics of endocrine preparations, especially in insulin therapy;
To work with glycaemia self-control devices and analyse a diary of a patient with diabetes mellitus;
To understand and interpret results of different examination results (laboratory, radiological, morphological), be competent and apply conservative treatment and prevention methods of endocrine diseases in practice.
To be able to ensure dynamic care of patients with diabetes mellitus and training of patients (their relatives), assess early diagnosis of different late complications and learn their observation methods.
To evaluate special literature critically and justify their clinical decisions on the basis of evidence-based medicine;

Competence
