Objective

To provide the resident with the theoretical and practical knowledge required to perform his/her professional duties related to state-funded medical services and voluntary health, accident, travel insurance, as well as road traffic accident insurance with cover of civil liability insurance for owners of road vehicles for victims. To provide the resident with theoretical knowledge and practical skills of the social security system, insurance services, laws and regulations governing them, the two national systems of compensation for damage caused at work, the procedure for issuing sick leave in connection with temporary incapacity for work. To provide the resident with theoretical knowledge and practical skills of the impact of employment on health, work and functional capacity.

Learning outcomes

Knowledge

1.Knowledge of the binding legislation within compulsory and voluntary health and life insurance, risk factors for possible fraud committed by clients and collaboration partners. The resident understands the risk factors in the working environment, knows how to assess them, and understands the social insurance guarantees for patients suffering from occupational diseases. The resident understands both the positive and negative impact of employment on health and the possible action of employers to preserve the work capacity, including for various risk groups, such as people with different physical and mental disorders, people in pre-retirement age.

Skills

1.The procedure for calculation of insurance claims, assessment of medical records, monitor partners and make decisions. The resident has improved the diagnosis of occupational diseases, application of principles of treatment and rehabilitation in practical work; is able to assess the risk factors of the working environment. The resident has learned how to determine the index of work capacity, to make recommendations for the preservation and improvement of work capacity at both individual and corporate level.

Competence

1.Based on the knowledge acquired, the resident is able to choose the appropriate means and appropriate action for the given situation. The resident analyses and establishes interrelations, evaluates and addresses issues concerning treatment and rehabilitation of occupational diseases, occupational rehabilitation according to the level of development of modern science, prognosis for diseases or trauma, functional status of the person and the patient's work capacity. The student analyses and finds correlations, is able to evaluate the positive and negative effects of employment on health and the possible action of employers to preserve the work capacity for people with various physical and mental disorders and people in pre-retirement age.
