Objective

Improving knowledge in the recognition, diagnosis and interdisciplinary treatment of rheumatological diseases with changes and symptoms in the spine, taking into account the peculiarities of preoperative preparation and postoperative care, in order to prepare the doctor for certification in the subspecialty of Spine Surgeon.

Learning outcomes

Knowledge

1.• Acquired sufficient theoretical knowledge to recognize signs of rheumatological disease in a patient without a previously established diagnosis of complaints related to the spine.
• Gained knowledge about preparing a rheumatological patient for spine surgery, laboratory findings and medicinal therapy in the postoperative period, contraindications for selective spine surgery.

Skills

1.Able to recognize and systematically prescribe differential diagnostic examinations for the following rheumatological diseases with symptoms in the spine: enthesopathies, spondyloarthritis, axial spondyloarthritis. Juvenile psoriatic spondyloarthritis, juvenile spondylarthropathies, systemic sclerosis, chlamydial infection with reactive arthritis, fibromyalgia. Complex regional pain syndrome.

Competence

1.Recognizes and classifies benign congenital connective tissue and joint diseases with spinal symptoms: Hypermobility syndrome, Ehler-Danlos syndrome, Paget's disease. Understands the specifics of drug treatment and laboratory tests before and after spine surgery in a rheumatological patient. Contraindications to elective spine surgery in rheumatologic disease can be defined.
