Thermal Injury (RTO_022)
About Study Course
Objective
To provide acquisition and improvement of comprehensive, in-depth theoretical knowledge and practical skills on thermal injury in order to be able to provide highly skilled emergency care and full specialised care to patients with thermal injuries.
Learning outcomes
1.Based on the knowledge acquired, the student will be able to:
a) accurately define the diagnosis of thermal injury,
b) assess the condition and severity of thermal wounds,
c) predict the likelihood of developing burn disease,
d) describe and justify the necessary general and local treatment tactics,
e) predict the course, possible sequelae and adverse effects of thermal injury,
f) describe the direction of rehabilitation to be undertaken.
1.The student will be able to:
a) assess the condition of the patient with thermal injury,
b) determine the depth and area of a thermal wound,
c) recognise the development of burn disease,
d) calculate fluid loss and the amount of fluid compensation required,
e) provide emergency care,
f) treat the thermal wound (dressing, necrectomy and other necessary manipulations).
1.Using the acquired knowledge, the student will be able to analyse the situation, provide first aid at the scene, organise and manage the treatment of a patient with thermal injury.
