Objective

Develop students’ understanding of and linking modern personality psychology theories to health psychology, specifically addressing the effects of personality traits on health behaviors, disease perception and likeability in treatment. Promote awareness of the role of personality factors in maintaining and improving health and develop the skills to identify and use personality internal resources for activation, strengthening and effective use in the health context.

Learning outcomes

Knowledge

1.Students understand the main theories of modern personality psychology and their relationship to health psychology; is familiar with the effects of personality traits on health behaviour, disease perception, adherence to medication and health-threatening habits; understands the role of internal personality resources in maintaining and improving health.

Skills

1.Students are able to analyse and compare different personality theories in the context of health psychology; is able to identify personality factors that influence an individual’s adaptation to the disease and health promotion process; able to apply theoretical knowledge to practical situations by assessing the role of personality in health behaviour and treatment.

Competence

1.Students are able to independently assess the applicability of personality psychology theories in a health context; demonstrates a willingness to use acquired knowledge and skills in professional activities to promote health-enhancing behaviour and support an individual’s likability in treatment; able to integrate theoretical knowledge with practical approaches to strengthening personality resources in health psychology.
