Objective

To provide students with theoretical knowledge and practical skills in the assessment of athletes' functional abilities,develop the ability to choose and implement in practice tests appropriate for the sport and the evaluation purpose, and process, visualise and interpret the data obtained to develop data-based training recommendations, critically evaluating the possibilities and limitations of using digital technologies and artificial intelligence tools.

Prerequisites

Understanding of the human musculoskeletal system and the physiological principles of muscle action during exercise.Understanding of the mechanisms of expression of physical qualities (strength, speed, flexibility, balance, coordination) in sports.Understanding of basic concepts of biomechanics (movement control, stability, force vectors).Basic skills in working with spreadsheet programs (MS Excel or Google Sheets) for data recording and simple graphical representation.

Learning outcomes

Knowledge

1.Describe and explain the basic principles, objectives and importance of functional and physical ability assessment in sports performance evaluation, taking into account physiological and biomechanical aspects.

Skills

1.Select and practically implement functional and physical ability tests appropriate to the sport, the needs of the athlete and the purpose of the assessment, in accordance with standardised methodology, performance technique and safety requirements.

Competence

1.Critically evaluate the results of functional testing, the limitations of the methods used, and the reliability of the information provided by digital technologies and AI, identifying the need for additional information or retesting as necessary.
