Objective

To gain an understanding of the chemical composition of the human body: the biological functions of biocompounds – carbohydrates, proteins, lipids and nucleic acids. To gain an understanding of metabolism – the biochemical foundations of life processes, emphasizing the main energy sources of the organism and substances involved in energy production, as well as the dynamics of energetic and plastic processes during physical exertion; to acquire skills in determining and interpreting individual analysis data.

Prerequisites

Secondary or specialized secondary education, including natural science subjects: biology, anatomy, physics, inorganic and organic chemistry.

Learning outcomes

Knowledge

1.Students acquire knowledge and critical understanding of the chemical composition of the human body and the chemical foundations of life processes.

Skills

1.Students will be able to analyze and interpret literature on sports biochemistry in specific sports, be able to analyze specific loads according to reactions that provide energy, and know what energy sources they consume.

Competence

1.Students will be able to assess the role of biochemical compounds in building body structure and ensuring functions.
