Objective

Within the study course, students will have the opportunity to familiarize themselves with the basics of excursion creation and execution, as well as the role of a guide. The course will provide the chance to theoretically and practically learn excursion planning, content creation, organization, and leadership. Additionally, students will become familiar with the related laws and regulations of excursion planning and organization in Latvia.

Prerequisites

In the professional Bachelor’s programme of sports science, students need knowledge of human functioning, the nature of recreation and the role of recreational renewal, which gives students the opportunity to understand the movements and opportunities to be performed for different age stages and levels of preparedness. Knowledge of English is required at a sufficient level to read industry literature and guide course terminology in English.

Learning outcomes

Knowledge

1.Students compare and analyse the types of excursions, the basic principles of planning, organisation and management, know LR legislation in relation to the organisation and management of excursions.

Skills

1.Develop a tour route, attractions and appropriate activities appropriate to the interests, age, fitness of the tour participants.

Competence

1.Students assess and analyse the tour, as a recreational event and related problems.
