Rīga Stradiņš University celebrates its 75th anniversary by inviting support for students
This year, Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU) is celebrating its 75th anniversary. This anniversary serves as a special occasion to unite efforts and resources to support diligent yet financially disadvantaged students, as well as to extend support to young people from Ukraine.
The RSU Foundation, established in 2011, has implemented a range of scholarship programmes for more than a decade. Its mission is to promote the development of higher education and scientific activity, support socially disadvantaged youth, and foster initiatives in the fields of education, culture, health, and sports.
Support for students – an investment in Latvia’s future
Studying at university is one of the greatest challenges in a young person’s life, particularly for those whose families lack sufficient financial resources. Fundraising for scholarships covers not only tuition fees but also daily expenses. This support enables young people to focus on their studies rather than worrying about survival.
Each donated amount is transformed into a tangible investment – a scholarship that helps students complete their chosen study programme and become a qualified professional in medicine, social sciences, or other fields.
Support for the academic community of Ukraine
Since the very first day of the war, RSU has taken a firm stance in support of Ukraine.
Over the past years, the University has attracted 18 visiting lecturers from Ukraine, while 39 Ukrainian students are currently continuing their studies at RSU.
They have been provided with tuition fee discounts, monthly scholarships, and affordable accommodation. Special attention is paid to psychological support, which is essential to ensure that the trauma experienced during the war does not hinder the learning process and that young people are able to fully integrate into the academic environment.
An important part of the support is the opportunity to attend Open University courses with a 100% discount on tuition fees, allowing Ukrainian students to continue their professional development and acquire new knowledge.
The donated funds will help cover the costs of studies, Open University courses, and professional development programmes.
