On 16 September, Finnish President Alexander Stubb and Latvian President Edgars Rinkēvičs met with RSU students at the Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU) Medical Education Technology Centre (METC). The discussion on artificial intelligence (AI) was led by Jānis Sārts, Director of the NATO Strategic Communications Centre of Excellence, and Mārtiņš Daugulis, Associate Professor at the RSU Faculty of Social Sciences.
RSU students had the opportunity to take part in the discussion between the presidents, which unfolded in a relaxed, light-hearted atmosphere while addressing important questions about the role of AI in both geopolitics and social development.
In response to a Finnish student’s question about whether Latvia and Finland plan to cooperate on AI, President Stubb remarked
that such cooperation is already happening – with Latvian and Finnish students sitting side by side in the hall, taking part in a joint discussion with both presidents.
There are currently 461 students from Finland studying at RSU.
