Congratulations to RSU Associate Professor Karina Palkova on her election as Ombudsman

On Thursday, 18 September, with the support of a majority of Saeima deputies, Associate Professor Karina Palkova, Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences at Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU), was elected Ombudsman.

As Ombudsman, Assoc. Prof. Palkova has identified her key priorities: protecting children’s rights, ensuring digital security and human rights in the digital environment, strengthening social protection, combating domestic violence, and making the Ombudsman’s office more open and accessible to the people of Latvia.

RSU warmly congratulates Assoc. Prof. Palkova and thanks her for her outstanding contribution to the development of the University – from building a renewed and modern structure for the Faculty of Social Sciences to advancing research and promoting medical law in Latvia.

We wish Assoc. Prof. Palkova every success in her new role, representing the interests of society and strengthening human rights and the rule of law.
