On December 2, Rīga Stradiņš University invited researchers, doctoral students and academic staff to attend a training on the use of artificial intelligence in research.

The training was organized as a one-day online workshop in collaboration with Aalto University experts Dr. Enrico Glerean and Dr. Pedro Santo Silva and intended for researchers interested in the basics of artificial intelligence in research work and responsible research. It provides a broad overview of the topic, so no prior knowledge is required.

Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools – such as generative AI with and Large Language Models - are quickly reshaping research-related work. While they can improve and fasten different parts of the research process, they also pose new important questions regarding their ethical use in research work and potential risks when it comes to responsible conduct of research as well as data security.

Workshop participants had the opportunity to become familiar with the basic concepts of generative AI, demand engineering approaches, and practical workflows in the research process, as well as work in groups, sharing their experiences and discussing examples of good practice, legal, and ethical aspects.
