Researcher

Riga Stradiņš University invites applications for a Researcher position (one vacancy) at the Institute of Microbiology and Virology to join the research group of a tenured professor in the natural sciences.

Work Location: Riga, Latvia 

Working Time: 40 hours a week

Employment contract: Fixed-term employment contract for 18 months, with the possibility of extension based on a positive evaluation

What we expect

• A PhD in natural sciences or a closely related field
• A record of previous scientific publications relevant to the field
• Experience working with methods used in molecular biology, immunology, and cancer biology
• Preference will be given to candidates with prior, proven expertise in flow cytometry, the purification and characterization of monocytes and macrophages, mammalian cell culture, and mitochondrial biology
• Ability to independently plan experiments, experience in research work
• Excellent command of the English language
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team, with good communication and cooperation skills
• Initiative and a strong sense of responsibility in performing professional tasks

• Participation in developing and maintenance of laboratory infrastructure
• Participating in scientific discussions
• Preparing scientific publications
• Participating in the preparation of research projects
