We are pleased to announce that President Edgars Rinkēvičs has nominated Līga Meņģelsone for the position of member of the Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU) Council. The position of Council member nominated by the President became vacant following the departure of Reinis Bērziņš. We wish Līga Meņģelsone every success in her new role.

The President of Latvia emphasises that Meņģelsone is an experienced expert in business, public policy, and health sector management. From 2022 to 2023, while serving as Minister of Health, Meņģelsone gained high-level experience in health system management, medical education, clinical practice, research, and innovation. Her long-standing work as Director General of the Employers’ Confederation of Latvia has provided her with an in-depth understanding of the importance of higher education in human capital development, labour market needs, and institutional sustainability.

Since 2025, she has served as delegate representative of the Council for the Implementation of the Memorandum of Cooperation between Non-Governmental Organisations and the Cabinet of Ministers within the National Tripartite Cooperation Council.
