The RSU Laboratory of Sports and Nutrition Research participated in the Scandinavian Sports Medicine Congress, which took place at the end of January in Copenhagen, Denmark. This is one of the most significant sports medicine congresses in Northern Europe, bringing together more than 300 participants from approximately 40 countries, including sports physicians, physiotherapists, coaches, athletes, and researchers from around the world.

The congress programme focused on the newest topics in sports medicine, health, fitness, and performance, offering scientifically grounded practical examples, the latest research findings, and valuable opportunities for professional networking.

Key highlights of the congress

  • 6 parallel scientific sessions and practical workshops
  • 62 poster presentations
  • 52 presented abstracts

Our lab was represented by several researchers who delivered both oral and poster presentations. In the Physical Health, Fitness and Performance section, Gundega Akuratere presented the study Polyphenol supplementation alters resting metabolomic profiles after resistance training in older adults, whereas Aija Kļaviņa's presentation was devoted to the study Weekly health monitoring and fitness outcomes in breast cancer patients undergoing high-intensity aerobic interval training during chemotherapy. Deina Vilīte and Ilze Justamente participated in the poster session, presenting their research findings and engaging in discussions with international colleagues on current topics in sports and health sciences.

The Scandinavian Sports Medicine Congress is highly regarded at the international level and makes a significant contribution to knowledge exchange between researchers and practitioners in the field of sports medicine. Participation in this congress strengthens the international visibility of the RSU Laboratory of Sports and Nutrition Research and promotes the development of new scientific collaborations.
