On 13 May 2026, a public discussion titled 'Gender Equality Plans in Higher Education: Sharing Implementation Experiences' took place in Riga, Latvia. The event was organised by the Ministry of Welfare of Latvia in cooperation with the Ministry of Education and Science of Latvia, as well as “Sustiniere Latvija”.

During the event, researcher Diāna Kiščenko from Rīga Stradiņš University presented the paper “Performative or Transformative? Gender Equality Plans and the Researcher Experience at Rīga Stradiņš University (Latvia)” and participated in the discussion. Her presentation reflected on the major findings of the INCLUDE project, highlighting researchers’ experiences with the implementation of Gender Equality Plans and their impact on institutional change.

The event aimed to facilitate the exchange of experiences regarding the implementation of Gender Equality Plans in higher education and research institutions, address key challenges, and explore future directions for advancing gender equality. The programme included an overview of current trends and developments in gender equality in higher education and research institutions, as well as discussions on Gender Equality Plans as an eligibility criterion within the EU programme Horizon Europe. Participants also reflected on implementation challenges and shared examples of good practice.
