Objective

To master knowledge of the role of communication, information and mass media in modern political processes, and to build understanding of the components of the communication process and the specificity of its management, to develop communication skills and abilities, to understand the wishes, interests and needs of the parties involved in this process, to provide insight into the diversity of communication processes and their details.

Prerequisites

Knowledge in the field of social processes and politics.

Learning outcomes

Knowledge

Students can tell about the elements and building of confident communication, as well as the objectives and tasks of the European Union and Latvian national communication policy, can name the national and European Union communication entities, their objectives and tasks.

Skills

Students are able to prepare a speech for public presentation, to establish confident communication for everyday and professional needs. Able to perform an elementary analysis of political information, can explain the topical issues of communication and interaction between subjects of the political system of the European Union and Latvia.

Competence

Students will be able to choose appropriate forms of communication and mass media, establish dialogue with institutions, explain government decisions to clients, activate clients for active civic involvement. Will be able to evaluate the context of public communication, manage and influence the communication process.
