Objective

The aim of the course is to develop basic academic skills necessary for students to study psychology by developing information literacy, academic writing, academic integrity, critical evaluation of scientific sources of psychology, understanding of basic principles of research ethics and data protection, as well as socio-psychological skills for effective cooperation and building a safe learning environment.

Learning outcomes

Knowledge

1.1. Defines basic concepts of psychology studies and structural components of academic text.
2. Identify and distinguish the types of scientific sources in psychology, describe their use in study tasks and identify the most important psychology databases.
3. Explains the basic principles of academic integrity, quotation, paraphrase, copyright, research ethics and data protection in the context of studies.
4. Describes the legal and ethical regulation of the professional activities of a psychologist in typical study situations.

Skills

1.1. Perform a targeted literature search and document the search strategy (keywords, operators, filters).
2. The reliability of sources and compliance with the study assignment shall be critically evaluated, justifying selection on the basis of clear criteria.
3. Draw up references in text and a list of literature according to a specific reference system and correct the most common errors.
4. Structure short academic texts by integrating sources according to academic integrity requirements.
5. Analyse a short scientific paper of psychology, identifying its purpose, method, key results and limitations.
6. Prepare a structured reflection on cooperation and communication in socio-psychological training.

Competence

1.Students develop the ability to independently and responsibly use scientific sources in psychology studies, make ethically and legally based decisions in professional situations, communicate and cooperate effectively within the group, as well as critically evaluate their learning and the development of professional identity.
1. Use scientific sources responsibly and cooperate in an academic environment, respecting ethics, data security and constructive communication within the group.
2. Integrate basic academic skills and principles of academic integrity into the fulfilment of the tasks of psychology studies, taking responsibility for the quality of their teaching work;
3. Analyse the situations of studies and typical professional activities in the context of psychology studies, recognising ethical and normative aspects;
4. Cooperate in the study group, observing the principles of effective communication, mutual respect and a safe learning environment;
5. Reflecting on their learning experience and the formation of professional identity in psychology studies.
