Objective

To ensure acquisition of theoretical and practical skills in biopsy under visual control.

Learning outcomes

Knowledge

1.On successful completion of the study course, residents will be able to choose the optimal approach to obtaining the material – FNA (fine needle aspiration) or biopsy, used biopsy needles (cytology, histology), how to properly prepare the material for sending for microbiological evaluation. Residents will be familiar with blood test parameters (including coagulation parameters, their reference interval values).

Skills

1.During the course, residents will learn to perform percutaneous biopsies of the chest, abdomen and pelvis. Will be able to treat patients with biopsy-derived hemorrhage and pneumothorax – both conservatively and by drainage. In-depth acquisition of manipulations that are within the competence of the radiologist's main specialty is planned.

Competence

1.On successful course completion, the residents will be able to apply the acquired theoretical knowledge and practical skills to perform biopsies in visual control, will be aware of possible complications, will be able to diagnose and treat them.
