Objective

The purpose of the course is to give the students the overview of the administrative history of the West which would provide them the understanding of the historical roots of the institutions of public administration nowadays. The course enables the students to identify the features of administrative systems and practices in the countries of Western Europe and the U.S.

Learning outcomes

Knowledge

The students will be able to distinguish various historical forms of public administration and to link them to the more general development of the state and the process of modernization.

Skills

Students will obtain analytical tools which can be applied to the analysis of administrative systems and practices.

Competence

The students will get an idea of genesis of administrative structures and practices in the countries of Western Europe and the U.S. which will help them to apply best administrative practices in contemporary administrations.
