About Study Course
Objective
To ensure the acquisition of theoretical knowledge and practical skills in paediatric diabetology and diabetes mellitus training. To ensure acquisition and improvement of theoretical knowledge and practical skills in paediatric endocrinology in accordance with the requirements of the paediatric endocrinologist specialty regulation in order to prepare the doctor for certification in the subspecialty of paediatric endocrinologist.
Learning outcomes
1.After completing the study course, the medical resident will be familiar with the organisation of diabetes mellitus training, the topics of theoretical and practical training and the specifics of implementation thereof depending on the age of the children.
1.As a result of completing the study course, medical residents will be able: - to independently assess children with diabetes mellitus, independently implement an examination and treatment plan, - to use the most appropriate tests for the patient in the diagnosis of diabetes mellitus at different ages, - to provide qualified diabetes mellitus training to children of different ages and their parents, - to carry out self-monitoring of glycemia, ketonemia and analysis of diabetes diary data, - to calculate an insulin therapy plan for conventional therapy and insulin administration with a pump, - to analyse the effectiveness of insulin therapy.
1.By combining theoretical knowledge with practical skills, the medical resident will have the opportunity to apply them in a single integrative understanding of the ability to communicate with patients – children of different ages, their relatives, collect the necessary information – anamnesis, acquire the skills to examine diabetes patients of different ages, get acquainted with treatment schemes, prognostic indices, learn to draw up an examination plan, prescribe a care and treatment plan, using the acquired knowledge in the differential diagnosis of children’s endocrine pathologies. To analyse and interpret diagnostic data to make a correct diagnosis. To substantiate the need for the selected diagnostic tests and the chosen treatment plan. To logically formulate and explain the treatment and training objectives, evaluate treatment effectiveness, side effects.
