Objective

Provide students with basic knowledge of the types of classes of different fitness groups, the principles for organising and conducting them, as well as terminology in Latvian and English. As part of the study course, students acquire the skills to demonstrate and combine physical exercises, plan and structure group classes, as well as to use pedagogical and communication methods in working with different groups of clients. Interdisciplinary understanding of the impact of physical exercise on the human body, basic principles of safety, is developed in the study process.

Prerequisites

Basic knowledge of the musculoskeletal system, the health benefits of physical activity and the principles of safe exercise. Ability to perform simple physical exercises and to cooperate in a group.

Knowledge

1.Describe the different types of fitness group classes and their methodological principles.

Skills

1.Selects and combines exercises according to the purpose of the class and the level of physical fitness of the participants.

Competence

1.Plans and structures fitness group classes, coordinating the intensity of the load, the content and the style of the class.
