Objective

To acquire knowledge about the national infectious disease surveillance and monitoring system (VISUMS).
To acquire knowledge about EU and Council Decision 2002/253/EC laying down case definitions for reporting communicable diseases (intestinal infections of microbial and viral origin and viral hepatitis).
Algorithm for epidemiological investigation of intestinal infections, viral hepatitis, airborne infections.

Learning outcomes

Knowledge

1.As a result of completing the study course, the medical resident will gain knowledge about the national infectious disease surveillance and monitoring system (VISUMS), definitions of cases of infectious diseases, basic principles of epidemiological investigation of certain groups of infectious diseases.

Skills

1.As a result of the study course, the resident will strengthen the acquired knowledge, will be able to enter notifications about infectious diseases in VISUMS, create a protocol, conduct an epidemiological investigation of a case of contracting the disease, collect the necessary epidemiological information, determine the boundaries of the epidemic focal point for the organisation of anti-epidemic measures for a specific group of infectious diseases.

Competence

1.As a result of completing the study course, the medical resident will achieve competence and will be able to independently register information about cases of contracting the disease and enter it in the VISUMS database and conduct an epidemiological investigation of a case of contracting the disease independently or in the presence of a specialist.
