Objective

To train the medical residents of the specialty in dermatology, venereology in diagnosing and treating of skin manifestations of infectious diseases, in diagnosing acute conditions in infectology, to establish differential diagnosis of dermatovenereological and infectious diseases.

Learning outcomes

Knowledge

1.Demonstrates the acquisition and development of in-depth understanding for the following topics:
1) History of infectology. Patient investigation of infectious diseases. Deontology in infectious diseases. Scheme of the medical case history of infectious diseases. Laboratory and instrumental investigative techniques. Systemic manifestations of infectious diseases. Acute infections caused by relatively pathogenic flora; 2) Virus hepatitis and other liver diseases; 3) Most common exanthematous infectious diseases; 4) Acute respiratory and lung infections; 5) Lyme disease and nervous system infections; 6) Infectious diseases of the gastro-intestinal tract; 7) Parasitic infections and quarantine infectious diseases; 8) The human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) infection and the acquired immune deficiency syndrome (AIDS); 9) Immunization and characteristics of vaccine application; 10.) Herpesvirus infections (cytomegalovirus, Epstein-Barr virus, chronic fatigue infection) and infections of the nervous system.

Skills

1.Investigation of the infectious patient. Choice of specific diagnostic methods and assessment of the information obtained. Specific diagnosis of HIV infection and assessment of the HIV/AIDS patient. The nature of treatment of opportunistic infections and malignant tumours in AIDS patients. Regulatory standards and procedures in epidemiological safety documentation.

Competence

1.After obtaining the certificate to be competent in working as a dermatologist and venereologist, to apply the knowledge acquired during the study process, to recognize and differentiate the skin and sexually transmitted diseases from other pathologies.
