Objective

The course is designed for cardiology residents to acquire theoretical and practical knowledge of modern non-invasive imaging and functional diagnostic methods in cardiology: electrocardiography, exercise tests, radionuclide methods, echocardiography (including stress echocardiography and transesophageal echocardiography), MS-CT, CT angiography, MRI, PET, trunk artery US/Dopplerography, etc.

Learning outcomes

Knowledge

1.demonstrates knowledge of:
- the essence, indications, contraindications, advantages and disadvantages of non-invasive imaging and functional examination methods used in cardiology, proper preparation of the patient for examinations, their possible complications and timely prevention of complications,
- the finding norm of non-invasive cardiovascular imaging examinations and deviations from it.

Skills

1.- recognize the norm and deviations from non-invasive cardiovascular imaging examinations, make an ECG recording with 12 standard leads and additional leads,
- perform and describe screening electrocardiogram and screening echocardiography independently,
- under the supervision of a certified doctor, perform a stress test with ECG recording (veloergometry) and standard transthoracic echocardiography.

Competence

1.- indications and contraindications of non-invasive imaging and functional examination methods used in cardiology, proper preparation of the patient for examinations, timely prevention of complications, interpretation of results in the context of clinical and other additional examinations.
- independently interpret the electrocardiogram according to the competence of the screening method,
- independent application of the screening echocardiography method and interpretation of the results in the context of the clinical situation.
